Zane Zenji Fujimoto, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 19 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a heavy equipment mechanic for J.M. Tanaka Construction Co., coffee and macadamia nut farmer, member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Kailua Shita Kumiai, and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Nancy Fujimoto of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Joni (Cy) Otsuka of Peoria, Ariz.; sons, Ernie Fujimoto of Lake Forest, Calif., and Curt (June) Fujimoto of Kailua-Kona; hanai son, Allen (Carol) Asada of Riverside, Calif.; brothers, Frank (Jean) Fujimoto of Honolulu and Larry (Lillian) Fujimoto of California; sister, Amy Matsuzawa of California; sister-in-law, Daisy Fujimoto of Honolulu; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Jason “Uncle Jay” Momi Keahilihau, 59, of Pahoa died Sept. 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a security guard for Keaau High School, professional musician and member of Koa Puna Motorcycle Club. Private services at a later date. Donna “Uncle Donna” Kanani Kualii, 85, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 19 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Waiakea Homestead, he was a sales manager and customer service representative for the former Aloha Airlines, retired reserve Hawaii County police officer, doorman at the former Kona Hilton and Royal Kona Resort, member of Bunny Brown’s Hilo Hawaiians band, Merrie Monarch Men’s Chorus and Royal Order of Kamehameha I, past president of Kai O Pua Canoe Club and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Visitation 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Old Kona Airport Makaeo Pavilion. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Luncheon and fellowship to follow. Casual attire. Gary Alfapada Palacio, 68, of Papaaloa died Sept. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired diesel mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints–Honomu Branch and U.S. Army Veteran. Visitation 6-7 p.m. today at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 7 p.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei welcomed. Urn committal at a later date at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
